大学で栄養学を学び証券会社を経て結婚。父の病気を機に、暮らしと土づくりをつなげ、「半径2キロでの循環」を着想。1997年よりコンポスト活動を開始し、循環型農業、博多湾の海藻アオサ・松葉の堆肥化事業に取り組む。
人材養成・支援や国連ハビタットとネパールへノウハウ移転、小さな循環ファームを進めながら、問題を抱える若者対象の農業、高校・大学との農業や6次産業連携事業等を展開している。

After studying nutrition at University and working at a securities company, Yuiko Taira married.
Her father became ill and during his illness, the concept of ‘circulation in radius 2km,’ which connects living and soil fertilizing, occurred to her. Since beginning composting activities in 1997, she has engaged in projects such as circulation farming, and composting Hakata Bay aosa seaweed and pine needles. Besides nurturing and supporting human resources, transferring know-how to the UN Habitat and Nepal, and developing small circulation farm projects, Taira develops agricultural projects for youth with problems, agricultural projects with high schools and universities, and agricultural diversification cooperation projects.
