Although from Nepal, Dillip BK Sunar has been living in Japan for eleven years. After studying social science and politics in both Australia and the USA, Dilip launched the NGO, Tsubomi Gakko Pokhara Nepal, in Japan to address social issues in his country, including the issue of ensuring adequate educational support for impoverished children. Thanks to donor support, Tsubomi Gakko Pokhara Nepal was able to build a school in Pokhara city in 2010 and a library for children in 2012. After the devestation of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, Sunar established TEDxSapporo to provide people with the opportunity to talk about restoration efforts, and held a successful event in February of 2012. He is now in Japan collecting funds for Nepal’s recovery from the April 2015 earthquake; from August to the beginning of September 2015, he completed a charity walk in which he travelled a total distance of 917km on foot from Sendai to Kobe.
